BEAR VALLEY ADVENTURE COMPANY IS YOUR COMPLETE MOUNTAIN ADVENTURE CENTER

We outfit, guide, rent, sell or provide information on the following activities: Mountain & Road Biking, Flatwater Kayaking, Canoeing, Stand-Up Paddleboarding, Fishing, Camping, Hiking, Rock Climbing, Tennis, Whitewater Rafting, Competative Sporting Events, and Annual Festivals. Purchase a "Bear Valley Adventure Map" at our store for a complete description of rides and activities in our area.

The store is stocked with clothing, footwear, equipment and supplies from the following great companies: Specialized, Patagonia, Perception, Camelbak, Columbia Sportswear, Outdoor Products, Reef Brazil, Salomon, Bolle', Sugoi, Yakima & more. Attached to the store is a mini-mart with high energy drinks, snacks, etc. for your outing.

New this year is the expanded Mountain Bike Shuttle operation on weekends into September. We also have a kayak trailer for rent if that makes your kayak or canoe transport easier.

- All boat rentals include life jackets, paddles, roof pads, and tie down straps.
- All day is 9am-5pm. Half day is either 9am-1pm or 1pm-5pm

SUNSET PADDLES
A romantic way to enjoy the alpenglow from Lake Alpine and an easy introduction to kayaking using two-person kayaks. After some very basic instruction, we will explore Lake Alpine's shoreline. Then, we will "raft up" and enjoy some hot drinks and snacks. It's a fine way to spend an evening.
*By advance arrangement only; tour last approximately two hours. Tours are $50/person for 4+ paddlers. Private couple tour $125. (min. age 8).


 

INTRODUCTION TO FLATWATER KAYAKING
In this basic two hour course you will be properly introduced to flatwater paddling techniques. Learn about gear options, paddle strokes and other tactics to fully enjoy open cockpit touring kayaks. Families, kids and new boaters will all benefit from this fun and informative safety course.
*By advance arrangement only; 10am - noon $85/person for 2+ paddlers. Private Course $100. (Min. Age 10).

COMPREHENSIVE KAYAK COURSE
Taught on beautiful Lake Alpine, this is our most popular class. You'll learn sweep strokes, braces, draws, and more of how to use your body in a kayak. The highlight of the class is learning a wet exit and how to re-enter your kayak. You'll also learn how to use safety equipment and we'll demonstrate solo rescues. This half day course will allow you to rent closed deck boats on your own and may satisfy the requirements of other outfitters for rentals.
*By advance arrangement only; 9am - 12:30pm; $110/person for 2+ paddlers. Private course $150. (min. age 12).

BASIC MTN. BIKE SKILLS RIDE / MTN. BIKE MAINTENANCE RIDE
Both of these courses are taught on an easier, but technical trail. The Bike Skills Ride will cover safety, proper bike fit, riding do's and don'ts, and a skills course. The Bike Maintenance Ride will cover changing a flat tire, simple bike adjustments, proper tool kits, trouble shooting on the trail, broken chains and cables,etc.

MORNING MEADOW BIKE TOUR
An easy and scenic guided tour of Bear Valley's private meadow during the peaceful morning hours, by permission from the Toeniskoetter & Breeding Families. (This is private property and only available through this guided tour).
*By advance arrangement only; 10am - noon; $50/person for 2+ riders. Private tour $65. Ask about private family tours.  (min. age: must be able to ride 2 wheel bike w/o assistance).

RESERVATIONS

To better serve you, we ask that you please make your reservations a week in advance of any kayak lesson or tour. However, we will do our best to accommodate late bookings. Reservations can be made over the phone with a Visa or Mastercard. A 50% deposit will secure your reservation. When you call, we'll explain the final details, including what to bring with you. 

All guided ski, bike, hike and kayak programs are operated under Special Use Permit, Stanislaus National Forest
