Sledding at a Nearby SNO-PARK

If you have your own sled or tube you can also play at the Lake Alpine or Spicer SNO-PARK areas. Please know that a SNO-PARK is a place to park you car with nearby snow. A portable toilet will be located near the parking area. There is no food service, tables or benches in the true sense of a park. Lake Alpine is often crowded with multiple user groups (lots of snowmobiles) on weekends. Spicer is normally less crowded. Stop by the Cross Country Center to pick up a California SNO-PARK permit and get more info. A permit is required for each vehicle parked at a SNO-PARK area from November 1 through May 30 of each year. Single Day Permits and Season Permits are available.

The nearest SNO-PARKS are 3 miles East and West of Bear Valley

Lake Alpine: Located at the winter closure gate at Lake Alpine; ungroomed sledding and snow play opportunities; porta-potty; Highway 4 is  normally groomed one time per week beyond the gate closure.

Spicer Reservoir: Located on the South side of Highway 4 at Spicer Road, just five minutes from Bear Valley; ungroomed and occasionally groomed sledding and snow play areas; porta-potty; Spicer Reservoir Road is occasionally groomed beyond the road closure.
